社会学 Honors
The Department of 社会学 和 Interdisciplinary Social 科学s offers an Honors 程序.
Students who are majoring in 社会学 和 have maintained a 3.2 GPA in all college work 和 a 3.5 GPA in 社会学 are eligible 招收 in SOCI 199H (社会学 Honors Project), a class designed for the preparation 和 writing of an original research 项目. Students who maintain the required GPA 和 complete at least 3 units of 199H will graduate with Honors in 社会学.
Steps 和 Timeline for Earning 社会学 Honors
- Two semesters or more before graduation:
- Meet with the Honors Advisor to determine eligibility.
- Two semester before graduation:
- Devise a 项目 that will fulfill SOCI 199H. This can be d一个 with Honors Advisor but it is advisable to have some topic/项目 ideas
- Find a faculty member to advise/supervise SOCI 199H. The Honors Advisor can assist with this step.
- Develop a timeline with benchmarks for completing the 项目. This should be completed with the 项目 advisor.
- One semester before graduation:
- Enroll In SOCI 199H
- Work with faculty advisor 和 department administrative staff to request permission 招收
- One semester before graduation:
- Complete SOCI 199H
- Maintain GPA minimum
